He remembered how his mother used to tuck him in at night. She would come into his bedroom fluff up the pillows, loosen the sheets for him so he could get in, finally she would tell him some important detail about his religion. Unfortunately he would not get any of that tonight. He would instead hear the cries of wolves and bears. Alyx had managed to get himself lost in a forest.
“Why?” he
would ask himself, “Why would this
happen to me?” Suddenly he felt hungry. He looked around and all he could see was
berries. He thought it very
stereotypical for the forest to have all these berries, but he was hungry and
decided to eat them anyway. As luck
would have it, these were magical fairy berries, and he was turned into a
fairy.
Alyx
thought himself very lucky. He now had
these great wings to fly with. He did
not know how to use them so off he went to learn. He figured some muscles on his back would control them. He tried moving his back but the wings stayed
still. He tried shaking his whole body
but the wings still didn’t move.
Suddenly, and without warning, a Fairy King walked into the area of the
woods were Alyx was. After singing a
graceful song about how great it is to be the King he approached Alyx.
“Excuse me
son, did you eat from the fairy berries?” asked the King.
“Yes I did
my lord”
“But you’re
too ugly to be a fairy.”
The king
waved his wand and magically, Alyx was left without wings. Alyx looked up and did not see the King
anymore. He was once again alone and
wingless, but he wasn’t hungry anymore.
He figured that if he followed the fairy dust he would get
somewhere. So he followed the dust left
by the King and he was led to a cave.
He decided to go into it. Alyx
realized that this cave was very dark and very dangerous, so he turned around
to leave.
He heard
growling. It was a bear. Alyx had never seen a real bear before. Even at the zoo he never saw one because
they would always hide from the humans.
He had seen pandas but those looked cute and wouldn’t growl like
this. He ran towards the exit as fast
as he could. He feared for his
life. He recited a quick prayer as he
kept running. The bear caught up with
him and hit him from behind. Alyx fell
and rolled forward only to see that what had hit him was a panda. The panda emulating Alyx’s movements rolled
forward in much the same manner. Alyx
still fearing for his life tried to run away.
The panda ran after him and pounced on him.
Alyx was trapped. The panda proceeded to lick his face. Alyx didn’t enjoy it one bit. He tried to get away but it was of no use. Then he remembered that Pandas were herbivores, so he had nothing to fear. After the panda finished his business Alyx got up.
Alyx passed
out from starvation and woke up three hours later. He knew he had to get a friend or else go insane. He searched through all of the rocks of the
forest to find the perfect pet rock.
Finally after hours of search he found the perfect rock. He called it, Harvey the wonder rock. Harvey was happy and smiled at him.
His
conversation with Harvey was interrupted by laughter. Alyx ran as fast as he could towards the source of laughter. He ran, ran and ran very quickly, taking
down every tree and jumping over every bush in the forest. He came upon a huge boulder. The boulder was laughing. Harvey recognized the boulder as his long
lost twin brother and told Alyx that he wanted to stay with the boulder.
Alyx was
sad. He didn’t want to leave Harvey,
especially not after having poured out his heart to it, but he knew what it
meant to Harvey. Alyx grabbed Harvey,
gave him a big kiss on the cheek, and put him down next to the boulder. Suddenly the boulder started shaking and
started morphing. A door appeared on
the side of it. Alyx opened it and
walked through it. The door closed in
behind him. He looked around. He felt very very tired.
He remembered how his mother used to tuck him in at night. She would come into his bedroom fluff up the pillows, loosen the sheets for him so he could get in, finally she would tell him some important detail about his religion. Unfortunately he would not get any of that tonight. He would instead hear the cries of women and children. Alyx had managed to get himself lost in a shopping mall.
